I think about plugging in there a little DiskOnChip (32MB or something like that) and to boot from there. Is this possible?

[11:26] [alibaba] Hello, can somebody, please, tell me what the absolute minimum requirements for LTSP are? I want to get an old "AXUS 200 Thin Client" running, I got meanwhile a working PXE boot , but I cannot get the KDE desktop. It boots, but doesn't fire up the X server.
[11:28] [Lns] alibaba: minimum requirements for LTSP will be *much* lower than minimum requirements for ltsp+kde
[11:28] ogra_cmpc (~ogra@p4FDA6436.dip.t-dialin.net) joined #ltsp.
[11:29] [alibaba] Well, this "grat piece of hardware" doesn't accept more than 128MB RAM and has a geode cpu with 233 MHz. :)
[11:29] [alibaba] Sufficient or not? (It is also possible that the grapgics simply is not working without tweaking).
[11:30] [vagrantc] alibaba: unforunately, software today generally requires more resources than that
[11:30] [leio] alibaba: which geode? GX1?
[11:30] [vagrantc] alibaba: you might be able to get by with very limited use, but probably not with a full desktop environment such as KDE
[11:30] [alibaba] I was afraid you'd say that. Is Geode the CPU or the chip besides of it?
[11:31] [leio] alibaba: the CPU. The companion chip model would probably reveal also which CPU it's likely to be
[11:31] [leio] alibaba: well, Geode is the whole architecture actually. I mean is it Geode GX1, Geode GX2 or Geode LX CPU :)
[11:31] [alibaba] So the CPU is the "Geode"?
[11:32] [alibaba] Does AXUS TC-2xxL say something to you?
[11:32] [leio] alibaba: Geode is a whole architecture too. I'm asking which family CPU it is to know what graphics is in there
[11:33] [leio] alibaba: and no, that doesn't tell me anything
[11:35] [alkisg] alibaba: does it work if you put XSERVER=vesa in lts.conf? My clients are working fine with 64RAM + Gnome...
[11:36] [vagrantc] ah, the new hostname code in initramfs-tools sets /etc/hostname...
[11:36] [alibaba] I could remove the CPU heatsink and see what it sais. The chip besides the CPU shows the following: Geode CS5530 / 25420-03 / J0013EAP / W5314AAH
[11:37] [leio] ok, GX1 then I think, some kernel log will tell too
[11:37] [leio] now what driver are you using
[11:37] [alibaba] I also guess it is GX1 as this bos is surely >5 years old
[11:37] [leio] looks like CS5530 is only for GX1 yeah
[11:38] [alibaba] How can I find that out? Btw., this is kiwi-ltsp
[11:38] [leio] I know nothing of ltsp really, plenty of geode though
[11:38] [leio] you highlighted me with its mentioning ;)
[11:38] [alibaba] Still good. :)
[11:38] [leio] GX2 requires CS5535 it sees, so it's almost surely GX1, yes
[11:39] [leio] what xorg driver are you trying to use
[11:39] [leio] s/sees/seems
[11:39] [alibaba] Hmm - I use a very default setup.
[11:41] [vagrantc] alibaba: there is a channel for kiwi-ltsp
[11:42] [alibaba] only very few people inside...
[11:43] [alibaba] where are this individual configs located in the tftp derver?
[11:45] [vagrantc] alibaba: cyberorg is one of the kiwi-ltsp developers...
[11:51] [leio] alibaba: typically you might have more luck with vesa driver than a geode driver (nsc or cyrix; xf86-video-geode does not support GX1 at the moment) on a GX1
[11:52] [alibaba] thank you very, very much.
[11:54] [alibaba] Booting stops even with XSERVER=vesa with a blinking cursor in upperleft corner... :(
