Also, what's the best way to lock all users of all thinclients to just firefox? Also do not want them to be able to change anything about... well... anything really.

[05:47] [avolkovi] ok... i have several labs in rural schools, no internet... did a fresh install of edubuntu 9.10 with ltsp, try booting the think clients and they give squashfs errors if i boot more than one at a time... i can log in as a user on one that successfully boots, but as soon as i login on a second tc, the first one locks up
[05:48] [avolkovi] i don't have internet at these schools, so i can't rebuild using ltsp-build-client
[05:49] [avolkovi] other clients don't even boot.. they manage to download the image vie PXE and then hang after "....done" i'm thinking that might be a PXE error, so i'll try with gPXE disks next time i go out
[05:50] [avolkovi] server works fine, and the lab was running 7.04 with few to no problems
[05:54] [alkisg] " i can log in as a user on one that successfully boots, but as soon as i login on a second tc, the first one locks up" ==> are you logging in with the same or with a different user?
[05:54] [avolkovi] different user
[05:55] [avolkovi] it's really bizarre... what blows my mind is i can't boot several tc's at once
[05:55] [avolkovi] if i go one at a time and i wait til each makes it to the login screen before proceeding i can atleast get them to login screens
[05:55] [avolkovi] but logging in on more than one is out of the question
[05:57] [avolkovi] i thought it might've been a hard drive problem on the server... like it was sending over a corrupt image, but problem persists after clean installs on two different hdd's

[07:34] [grantk] good morning
[07:34] [grantk] Is anyone aware what controls the available sessions you see with ldm?
[07:35] [appiah] controls how?
[07:36] [grantk] appiah: well, I am working on ldm load balancing and whenever I give the choice of more than the server that gave my client it's ip address I lose the option for a kde session. So I only have the default and Failsafe Xterm. This leads me in a loop where I can login to ldm, black screen, back to ldm.
[07:36] [Gadi] grantk: ldminfod
[07:37] [grantk] so I wanted to try and hunt down a reason why the info was not returned
[07:37] [Gadi] try installing the ldm-server package on the app servers
[07:37] [grantk] Gadi: I have that installed on both servers, Actually use it to choose the best server
[07:38] [grantk] Gadi: You mentioned the app server. I just have two servers installed with the ltsp packages, one is not really designated as an app server
[07:38] [Gadi] do they both have ldminfod?

[07:40] [Q-FUNK] re
[07:41] [grantk] Gadi: I am not sure how to check if inetd is running via the client, I can not login of course, But I did check out the inetd.conf in the chroot and saw the calls to ldminfod as well as the calls to nbdswapd, when I boot with just one server my nbdswap spaces do start up so I would tend to assume inetd is running.
[07:42] [grantk] and it has a process on the server of course
[07:47] [grantk] I think I possibly found it in the /usr/lib/ltsp/screen.d/ldm file, I am going to assume at the moment my get_hosts script is not returning the proper server list. I will try hardcoding that and see if ldm is able to loop through the servers returned and get the proper info.

[08:03] [grantk] semi-success! I was able to log into the server I attempted to have my get_hosts script return when I just hardcoded the entries into the get hosts_script. I had to go with ip's not with a name, even though I defined the nameservers and searchdomain in the lts.conf(no big deal there)
[08:04] [grantk] So one thing I have noticed is that in a bash shell I can run my get_hosts script and the get_hosts script from the ltspManual and get the proper output. But the ltspManual script has errors when it is ran on my ltsp clients. I wonder if this is due to a different shell?
[08:06] [Gadi] what are the errors? (also, I noticed in one of your posts, you have multiple IPs in DNS_SERVER - that does not work in any packaged version of LTSP
[08:06] [Gadi] I just added support for that last week
[08:06] [Gadi] try with only one IP

[08:25] [grantk] no, that is not
[08:25] [grantk] the shell error I am wondering about is why the scripts when ran from the server return the proper information
[08:26] [grantk] but when I rely on the ltsp client to run it nothing is returned that I know of, that is the only reason I can think of that if I hardcode a server list to return it works like one would expect.

[09:30] [alkisg] So sort afterwards doesn't make any sense
